13th Congress

The following are some of the legislations that Sen. Ed Angara pushed during the 13th Congress.

  1. Biofuels Act to cut our dependence on imported oil and for a cleaner environment;
  2. Juvenile Justice Delinquency Act;
  3. Declaration of the Sheikh Karimul Makhdum Mosque as National Shrine
  4. Credit Information System Act which will make credit more available, especially to small yet responsible borrowers;
  5. Special Purpose Vehicle Amendatory Act;
  6. Lending Companies Act which will create a regulatory framework for lending companies; and
  7. Creation of the Commission on Science, Technology and Engineering (COMSTE)

14th Congress

If reelected, the following are some of the legislations that Senator Ed Angara will push for during the 14th Congress.

  1. Pre-Need Code which will establish rules to govern the operations of pre-need firms and provide protection to consumers;
  2. Corporate Recovery Act which seeks to improve the insolvency proceedings to make the debt recovery process more efficient;
  3. Revised Investment Company Act (RICA) which will enable investment companies to play a vital role in capital formation;
  4. Amending the BSP Charter to better oversee the banking system;
  5. Modernizing the Insurance Code;
  6. Introduction of the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), a financial instrument which will provide liquidity to real estate market, and raise close to US $3 billion from real estate in the country;
  7. Develop with CHED, TESDA, ECOP and the PCCI human resource and job banks linking networks of related companies with public and private educational institutions, and encourage "learning alliances" among these groups that they may share educational and training programs, exchange best practices and provide internships across companies;
  8. Enact and implement the Mindanao Incentives Development Act (MIDA) to provide tax and non-tax incentives for private investors in Mindanao;
  9. Expansion and revitalization of the Special Education Program for gifted and handicapped children and youth;
  10. Salary and benefits upgrade for teachers and other public employees;
  11. Establish a Health Data Center to reinforce health data gathering for better decision-making;
  12. Institutionalize School Feeding Programs throughout the country to address the problem of child malnutrition;
  13. Philippine - France Friendship Day;
  14. Increasing the discount privilege to our senior citizens from 20% to 34%; and
  15. Expanding the coverage of PHILHEALTH by establishing the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
