Senator Edgardo J. Angara

Good afternoon. I am honored to represent Senator Edgardo J. Angara in this public presentation of the Seven-Year Candaba Development Program.

Please accept our apologies for the Senator's absence.

First of all, I would like to acknowledge the presence of Mayor Jerry L. Pelayo and all the municipal department heads, barangay captains and the people of Candaba. It is of great pleasure for me to be speaking in front of you.

Candaba, with its strategic location at the lowest point of Central Luzon makes it an ideal place to direct development programs-infrastructure, trading and livelihood, to mention a few.

Although, at the lowest point of the region, it is far from being in the low when it comes to its potential. Being one of the oldest settlements long before the encomenderos took hold of the town, the Municipality of Candaba, I believe with its rich history and culture, will go a long way to progress.

Not to mention, with the leadership of Mayor Pelayo and the energetic people of this municipality, we are confident that you will prosper and progress, with the whole province of Pampanga.

The Seven-Year Candaba Development Program is just the start. But at this point, we can already glimpse a bright future.

Senator Angara has always pushed for a strong local government and greater autonomy. We should not only pour more power to the provinces and municipalities, but pour in more resources.

We must give rein to the ability and creativity of our people, of this province, to attain economic and social progress. This will enable the local government to take the lead in development.

You do not need inspiration, the 7-year program is a full-proof that you are inspired and working. And with this, our full support is on you.

I would not keep you long. I am sure you are all looking forward to hear about and discuss the 7-year program-the 7 wonders of Candaba.

Again, thank you very much for inviting us in this event.

I am positive that this is not the last invitation and hopefully in the next, Senator Angara will be here to grace your event.
