Angara to UP Extension Programs graduates:
Meet new expectations of fast-developing world

Senator Edgardo J. Angara, speaking at the 27th and 21st Commencement Exercise of the University of the Philippines Extension Programs in Pampanga and Olongapo, urged the graduates "to meet the new expectations" of this fast-developing world.

"We must now think of a highly and increasingly technological world. The world is in science and technology, the world is in biotechnology, the world is going towards nanotechnology," Angara explained.

He added that these frontier sciences are changing man's conception of the world and are changing the nature of work itself.

"UP Clark will play a great role in this if you have the vision and the foresight to prepare Clark, to prepare UP by getting students who are in search of a good quality education," he noted.

He added that UP Clark can be the next premiere campus of the UP system because in the next 5, 10 years, development in the Philippines will start in Clark.

"Clark and the whole Region 3 is naturally located," he said. Region 3 is the fastest growing region in the Philippines with the fastest growing regional domestic product.

He added that the international airport in Clark will be the main airport of the Philippines and that Subic, its main seaport. "Thus the flow of development and growth of business and commerce here will be appropriate training and education centers."

With this, he urged the graduates, "The kind of jobs you can have and the places you can go to are numerous…, please do not stop learning, continue your education and your talent."
